Alpaws Privacy Policy

Alpaws (alpaws.app) provides on-demand dog walking and daycare across the Trois Vallées, French Alps. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the GDPR. Alpaws is the data controller; you can reach us at hello@alpaws.app.

1. What we collect

Account data — your name, email address and password (stored as a secure hash), or your basic Google profile if you sign in with Google.

Booking data — the service, date and time you book, your dog’s details (name, breed, any needs you disclose), and the meeting address you provide, including its map coordinates so we can match the closest walker.

Walker data — if you apply to walk with Alpaws: your name, phone number, base location, bio, and the professional documents we verify (ACACED training, civil liability insurance, DDPP registration).

Payment data — payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers; we keep only the booking amount and payment status.

Technical data — a session cookie to keep you signed in and a stored language preference. We do not use advertising trackers.

2. Why we use it

To perform our contract with you: creating your account, matching a walker, confirming and delivering bookings, and taking payment.

For our legitimate interests: keeping dogs, walkers and owners safe, preventing fraud, and improving the service.

To meet legal obligations, such as accounting and invoicing rules.

With your consent where the law requires it — which you can withdraw at any time.

3. Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with the providers that run the service: Supabase (database and sign-in, hosted in London, UK), Vercel (website hosting), Stripe (payments), Google (only if you choose Google sign-in), Resend (transactional email), and Photon/OpenStreetMap (converting the address you type into map coordinates).

Your assigned walker sees only what they need to carry out the booking: your first name, your dog’s details, the meeting point, and the booked time.

4. How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active. Booking and payment records are kept for the periods French accounting and tax law require, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time; we will keep only what the law obliges us to retain.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, a portable copy, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests.

Email hello@alpaws.app and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr), the French data protection authority.

6. Cookies

We use only essential cookies: one that keeps you signed in, and a local preference that remembers your language. Because we use no advertising or analytics trackers, there is no cookie banner to click.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the version date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app.

Draft for review. This is not legal advice — Alpaws recommends professional legal review before launch.
